The Fine Print
Privacy Policy
Effective October 7, 2026. Despite what the footer used to joke: no, we do not sell it. Here is what we actually collect and why.
1. What we collect when you sign in
Sign-in runs through Discord (via Clerk). We receive and store your Discord user ID, username, and avatar, plus the email address on your account where Discord provides one. That is your identity on Misdeed; we do not run a separate password system.
2. What you choose to publish
Rap sheets (character name, experience history, skills, availability), city pages, gig posts, and applications are public or visible to the relevant other side of the marketplace by design. Your audition tape, if you upload one, is a video file stored with our storage provider and playable by users browsing The Lineup and The Chamber. Do not put anything in a rap sheet or tape that you need to keep private.
3. Steam linking (optional)
If you link Steam, we store your Steam ID, Steam hex, persona name, account creation date, and your GTA V playtime as returned by Steam, and we compute a forensic risk signal from that data and your Discord account age. Linking is optional; unlinking removes the stored Steam identifiers from your profile.
4. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID, purchase records, and — only if you complete the Identity Tax — the card fingerprint and last four digits Stripe returns to us. We never receive or store your full card number or security code.
5. Reports and vouches
If you file a stolen-valor report, request a vouch, or receive one, we store those records, including the free-text evidence and decision notes provided, so operators can review and audit them.
6. Analytics and cookies
We use privacy-respecting analytics (Vercel Analytics, and Microsoft Clarity where enabled) to understand which pages get used and where the site breaks. Our sign-in and session providers (Clerk and Firebase) set cookies that are required for you to stay logged in. We do not run third-party advertising trackers and we do not sell personal information.
7. Who processes data for us
The service runs on a small set of processors: Clerk (sign-in), Google Firebase (database, authentication bridge, and file storage), Stripe (payments), Daily.co (live video rooms for The Chamber), and Vercel (hosting and analytics). Video in The Chamber is transmitted through Daily.co during a live session; we store session records and text messages sent in the Chamber, not recordings of your call.
8. How long we keep it
Account and profile data is kept while your account exists. Purchase and payment records may be kept longer where needed for accounting, fraud prevention, and dispute handling. Reports and vouch records may be retained after an account closes where needed to keep ban-evasion and stolen-valor enforcement meaningful.
9. Your choices
You can edit or close your rap sheet, unlink Steam, and cancel subscriptions at any time. To delete your account and associated personal data, contact The Gods through the Misdeed Discord community or by replying to the email address shown on your Stripe receipt. Some records described in section 8 may be retained in limited form. If you are in a jurisdiction with statutory privacy rights (such as California or the EEA), you may also have rights to access, correct, or port your data; contact us the same way and we will honor applicable law.
10. Changes
This policy may change as the service grows. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
